Rosses’ Estate-plan Gift To Expand The Arts At Babson And Inspire Future Entrepreneurs

Alan and Rebecca Ross

Alan Ross received his MBA from Babson College in 1980 and has been president and owner of Gallagher Fire Equipment since 1992. Alan’s Babson education not only provided him with a solid foundation in accounting but also instilled in him the independence and entrepreneurial spirit that defined his career.

Alan and his wife, Rebecca Ross, share a passion for art and entrepreneurship. Together, they have been avid art collectors since the early 1990s. They started with prints and lithographs and have since expanded their collection to include significant works by noted contemporary artists.

The Rosses are enthusiastic advocates for arts education at all levels, and they believe it is important to integrate the arts into the business curriculum. They are particularly passionate about expanding the arts at Babson and have made a major estate gift to support this cause.

Alan and Rebecca believe exposure to art can inspire future entrepreneurs, enhancing their creativity and problem-solving skills. This is a legacy they hope to leave at Babson through their contribution.

Alan feels fortunate for the success of his business, and supporting Babson is an opportunity to give back. “Now it’s gotten to the point in my life, in our life, that I feel that the things that helped me get to this point should be rewarded.” Both Alan and Rebecca emphasize the importance of philanthropy in supporting future generations of students who will shape the world. Their advice to other alumni considering a gift to Babson is simple: “Do it!”
